20,000 Jobs created to tackle PPI mis-selling

Manpower, an employment group in the UK reported that there were over 20,000 job openings to deal with the number of claims for  mis-sold PPI. The giant and well known banks in the United Kingdom have opened its doors to employing more people. The instant boom of the numerous jobs was due to the ongoing issue on PPI mis-selling and the interest rate swaps. Two big banks like Lloyds and Barclays already increased the amount of money to be used for the PPI claims. It was already reported before that the banks have set aside and amount of £17 Billion allocated for the PPI claims.

The Managing Director of Manpower’s UK, Mr. Mark Cahill told BBC during an interview that the said 20,000 jobs exclude the job of the workers to ensure that regulations are met. He also said that not only the banks hired more employees to tackle the issue but also including the Office of the Financial Ombudsman. They have been recruiting more employees. It is also believed by the Manpower that the private sector will have a slow hiring rate compared to the public sector for the coming months.

It was reported that working on the PPI claims would entail a greater task. The Manpower said that thousands will be employed to slowly tackle every customer’s claim from the overdue mis-sold PPI. The said jobs will focus mostly on how to solve and arrange the claims of every affected customers of their own bank. According to Mr. Cahill, most of the jobs that were created were a result of the mis-selling.

Increase in Medical Negligence in Hospitals

There has been an increasing rate of medical negligence in hospitals. This is considered a troubling case that Medical Centers are facing. When this occurs, the only way a patient can have justice is through making a compensation claim for medical negligence. According to the Chief Executive if the Law Society of England and Wales, Desmond Huston, it is the only way the patient can get justice when he or she would be a victim of medical negligence.

In April last year the risk has already increased to £18 Million. The concerned officials say that this was caused by the “No win, No Fee” for the cases. On the contrary, there are others who said that it is because of the life expectancy which is already increasing and the modern machines that are capable of curing the sickness of patients. Every citizen in the United Kingdom is entitled to make his or her own claim if they have been affected. This right should be known to all the citizens. There might be others who are unaware about the claim or how to make a claim.

The medical board is the one responsible to check on the claim on medical negligence. It is also a huge responsibility for the board to make the patient feel better or be in better shape. They would make it possible to provide the necessary equipment and new technology that is said to be expensive. Government would not put the blame on the no win, no fee cases. Mr. Huston also stressed out that every citizen deserves to be compensated if ever they experience medical negligence.
